Again crossovers! Company Volkswagen has presented the next crossover, more precisely a cross-version of its compact van Touran. The car received an increased ground clearance, a former engine and an additional body kit.

Not many will remember such a model as the Volkswagen Touran. However, Europe and China have received their updates. And in the China model is sold under the name Volkswagen Touran L, but this does not mean an elongated base. The fact is that the company had to separate the names between the first (still present in the market) and the second generation.

In addition, the cross-version will not be represented in Europe. This is due to the company’s unwillingness to oversaturate the local model line with crossovers, and not to confuse customers with another SUV. However, the market in China is less fastidious, and certainly able to take almost any car.

CrossTouran received a more aggressive body kit, including recycled bumpers and door sills with wheel arch extensions. Also there were light alloy wheels 18 inches with a unique design, and increased by 23 mm clearance. And in the end, the compact got a modest ground clearance even by the standards of some modern sedans – 143 mm

Under the hood will be installed 1.4-liter turbo engine TSI with a capacity of up to 150 horsepower. Perhaps a 1.8-liter engine with a capacity of up to 180 hp will be offered. Couple with them will install an exclusively automatic DSG transmission on seven stages.

It is also noteworthy that it was the Volkswagen CrossTouran L that became the 19 millionth car produced at the joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen. On sale the car will appear only in August. The cost is not disclosed yet.

Moreover, Volkswagen has seriously taken up the development of the model line in various markets, and the emphasis is on the segment of crossovers. At this time, unveiled serial version of the model Tayron, which is already on the conveyor and will go on sale before the end of the year.
