Volkswagen Passat of the new generation will debut in 2023August 24, 2020
Earlier in the German company, the future of a business car was vigorously discussed due to the growing popularity of crossovers and a decrease in demand for sedans.
Volkswagen has announced the start of work on a new generation of the Passat. Previously, Volkswagen doubted the future of the Passat due to the growing popularity of the Arteon, as well as the relatively imminent appearance of the sedan in the ID electric line. However, the ninth generation of the iconic car will still appear – this should happen in 2023.
The production of new items will be established at a new plant, which is being built by Skoda. At the same time, part of the technical filling from the Volkswagen Passat will be transferred to the Skoda Superb. Recall that for 36 Volkswagen Passat was assembled in the German Emden – now the plant will be re-equipped for the production of cars of the ID line. The ninth generation Passat should be built on an updated version of the MQB platform, which has the ability to use both front and all-wheel drive.
It is noted that the novelty will be able to use, among other things, hybrid and fully electric motors.
Earlier it became known that waiting for the debut of the electric Volkswagen ID.4 is not long. The German company has presented teasers of the novelty, which capture the front part. However, the silhouette of the car is no secret as it was declassified at the beginning of the year in China.
