Volkswagen officially stops supplying Golf to USJanuary 21, 2021
The German company Volkswagen has officially announced the termination of the supply of Golf to the American market.
Recall that the production of this model for the US market was carried out at the enterprise of the German brand in Mexico. In turn, Golf sales in America started in December 1974.
At the same time, Volkswagen is not going to leave the United States without its hatchbacks at all. The automaker will bring the updated Golf GTI and Golf R to the American market. Both cars have received various changes in the exterior and interior. In terms of performance, the GTI in Europe makes 245bhp and the Golf R 315bhp. At the same time, it is quite possible that for America the German company will decide to revise these indicators.
It is worth mentioning that for the first time 46 years ago, the Golf appeared in the United States under the name Rabbit. The model received the name Golf with a generation change in 1985. For all the time, 2.5 million copies of this German car were sold on the American market.
Speaking of the equipment of the current Golf, it is equipped with a 147-horsepower (249 Nm) 1.4-liter turbo engine. Together with the motor, a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission can work.
In addition, some time ago it was noted that the Volkswagen Tiguan X coupe crossover is sold much worse than the base modification. It should be emphasized that the Germans hoped for the appearance of a rush demand after the release of such a car.
