Volkswagen began mass production of a new crossover under the name ID.4.
As informs on Wednesday, August 26, the press center of the German brand, the first electric SUV of the brand is assembled at the plant in Zwickau. The novelty will debut next month.
“VW is adding the electric car to its lineup of compact SUVs, the fastest growing segment in the global car market,” said Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of the German brand.
At the heart of the cross is the architecture of Ralph Brandstätter, and it is the production version of the Crozz prototype. The corporation emphasized that the crossover has a low drag coefficient of 0.28. According to VW, the interior space of the new product will be comparable to the Tiguan Allspace.
ID.4 will be able to travel up to 500 km on a single charge. Initially, a rear-wheel drive cross will appear on sale, then there will be variations with all-wheel drive and two motors, one on each axle. For the new model, a fast charging system will be offered, which will make it possible to recharge the battery by 80% in just 30 minutes.
In addition, it was recently noted that affordable Volkswagen models are in high demand. It is worth saying that we are talking about cars that are produced under the Jetta brand. Currently, these cars are offered only in the PRC.
