German auto giant Volkswagen is working on the ID.1 electric compact crossover. This was announced by Volkswagen CEO Ralph Brandstätter. Thus, the novelty should become the most compact car in the ID line.
True, there is no need to expect a quick appearance of the car – its premiere should take place in 2023, and its debut on the market is scheduled for late 2024 – early 2025. It also became known that the new product will replace the Volkswagen Up !.
Volkswagen has already announced that after the appearance of the Volkswagen ID.1, cars with internal combustion engines in this segment will cease to be sold – the German brand is confident that a compact car should be powered entirely by electricity.
Volkswagen also hinted that they are preparing a competitor for the Tesla Roadster – they plan to release it under the ID.R brand, but this will happen no earlier than in 5 years.
In the meantime, Volkswagen has hinted at the possibility of quick charging of the ID.4 crossover. In the presented teaser, the car is connected to a fast charging system. The truth in which versions such functionality will be available is still unknown.
