Electric vehicle maker Volkswagen intends to spearhead the German automaker’s product promotion for years to come. On the agenda is a long list of new all-electric models. One of them was confirmed by CEO Herbert Diess of the Volkswagen Group, who recently was the main character in the presentation of the strategic plan of NEW AUTO.
Diss shared his speech at the aforementioned event via Linkedin. From this speech follows confirmation of the development of a new electric vehicle, which the company has not yet talked about. The new Volkswagen ID.8 will play a key role on American soil.
Volkswagen confirms the launch of a new electric SUV. In the model lineup, it will be higher than the Volkswagen ID.4, which was only recently delivered to the brand’s dealerships.
The brand describes the upcoming ID.8 as a model similar in size to the Volkswagen Atlas. The cabin can accommodate up to seven passengers. Its length exceeds the barrier of five meters. This is a car of considerable size, which in Europe would be positioned above the Volkswagen Touareg.
It’s too early to say in which markets the upcoming ID.8 will be available. There are no details yet as to what will be used, but today the most likely option is that Volkswagen will opt for the MEB platform. Note that the recently announced SSP has not yet been developed.
