Volkswagen introduced the concept of a mobile charging station for electric carsDecember 27, 2018
The idea of the development of electrified motor transport will not surprise anyone. Therefore, technologies in this and adjacent segments are developing by leaps and bounds, and the German concern is preparing to introduce the concept of a mobile charging station.
In all likelihood, the years 2019-2020 will be the time of the main development of battery technology for the coming years, as well as the infrastructure for charging them. Now the Volkswagen concern is working on its own and general solutions, and the concept of a mobile charging station was presented.
It is assumed that the new charging station can be easily installed in different places as needed, and also quickly removed. The station, developed by Volkswagen, has a total battery capacity of up to 360 kWh and, as they say, can charge up to 15 cars, and charging up to four cars at a time. In addition, the station is equipped with a fast charging system, but the numbers are not reported.
But the feature will be the ability to quickly replace a discharged battery in a station with a fully charged one, or connect the station itself to electricity for self-charging when not in use.
“Mobile charging stations are a crucial step towards an effective network of charging points. They can be installed anywhere as needed, with or without a power supply, ”said a statement by Thomas Schmoll, head of Volkswagen components.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen is preparing an electric SUV as opposed to the Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover Defender. Volkswagen electric line will be more extensive than previously expected.
