Volkswagen introduced the concept of a large SMV crossoverApril 16, 2019
The car is larger in size than the 7-seater Atlas. It is reported that the novelty in length takes 5,082 mm. Mass production will start within two years, and China will be the main market.
The automotive showroom in the Chinese city of Shanghai is in full swing, and right at this moment the global automakers present their new crossovers and SUVs – something that the automotive market is now very much interested in. For example, the German automaker Volkswagen presented a new conceptual crossover SMV, which received a huge size – it is reported that it is more than a 7-seater Atlas.
With a length of 5.1 meters, the SMV concept is slightly longer than the Atlas, and in fact is the largest vehicle ever built on the MQB modular platform from Volkswagen AG.
This is just a concept, but VW has already confirmed that the joint venture with the Chinese company FAW will start mass production of the car. It should happen in the next two years, and China will be the main market. Buyers will be able to choose either a 2.0-liter TSI engine as the base engine, or a 2.5-liter turbocharged VR6 with a capacity of 295 hp, reserved for more expensive model options. The new crossover got a full drive 4Motion and a 7-step “robot”.
So far, the German automaker has not shown a photo of the cabin of its new product, but there is no doubt that with such dimensions it will have a lot of free space.
