Volkswagen introduced an updated California camperAugust 21, 2019
Volkswagen has unveiled the updated California camper. The public premiere of the car will be held in late August at the Caravan Salon exhibition in Dusseldorf, Germany. The RV received the same major updates as the previously debuted Transporter and Multivan in versions 6.1.
Externally, the car can be distinguished from its predecessor by a new enlarged grille, modified headlights and another front bumper. The updated Volkswagen California received an optimized residential module with a new control unit for various systems.
California was also equipped with a new lighting system, new buttons to open the sink, stove and refrigerator, a double USB connector, new aluminum handles on the doors and sliding doors instead of the blinds in the rear cabinet. For Coast and Ocean versions, branded kitchen appliances are available. In addition, the tent, built into the roof, received special protection from the rays of the sun.
A fully digital Virtual Cockpit dashboard and an advanced multimedia system with access to new online services have appeared in the cabin of the mobile home. Also on the ceiling installed a new color touch monitor. Volkswagen California will use an electromechanical power steering, so the car will have new safety systems. So, the driver has access to the lane retention system, the parking assistance function, the Cross Wind Assist cross-wind compensation system and the trailer assist.
The novelty received a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. The camper is equipped with a seven-speed gearbox and an all-wheel drive system as an option.
