In early December, the German company Volkswagen celebrated an important milestone for itself by selling the 250,000th electric car – it was an e-Golf. Electric Golf is considered the most successful EV brand. Since the launch in 2014, he managed to increase his sales by 104,000 copies, the portal motor1.com writes, noting that the German brand is going to expand its electric line by 2020. Next year, the brand has planned the release of ID.3 and the first electric SUV, which will be based on the MEB platform.
Volkswagen presented the prototype of this novelty back in 2017. Now, the Zero Emission SUV, previously known as ID. Crozz concept, confirmed in an official announcement released by Volkswagen.
The production of new items should begin in 2020 at the same factory in Zwickau, where ID.3 based on MEB has already been “registered”. Also next year, they plan to launch production of MEB electric vehicles at the factory in Antin in China, where the necessary preparations are already underway. Mark is in no hurry to give details about his electric SUV. According to experts, the new product may be called ID.4. The market debut of the new electric car from Volkswagen is only planned for 2022. The new ID.3 and ID.4 will help the brand get closer to its goal of selling a million electric vehicles by the end of 2023.
