Volkswagen ID 4 SUV debuts postponed for several monthsFebruary 6, 2020
The second electric VW ID model was originally supposed to be presented at the New York Automobile Salon in April. Perhaps the electric crossover will debut at the Detroit Auto Show this summer.
The April International Automobile Salon in New York was supposed to be the debut spot for the second electric car from the Volkswagen ID line. The electric crossover will become an important part of the brand line in America and Europe. However, the most popular and interesting model may be the ID 3 hatchback, which will be presented first.
At the moment, it is known that the electric crossover will be presented in two versions of ID 4 and ID 5 – the classic and coupe-shaped SUV. Judging by the early spy photos, the models will retain the proportions and features of the 2017 Crozz conceptual model. ID 4 and ID 5 will be sold in all key markets of the world, including America, Europe and China.
“Already in 2020, we plan to sell 100,000 all-electric cars,” said VW Group chairman Herbert Diss at the 2017 Crozz concept presentation. “But this is only the beginning. By 2025, annual sales may increase tenfold. ”
ID Crozz is a mid-size crossover: length 4 625 mm, width – 1 891 mm, height – 1 609 mm, with a wheelbase of 2 773 mm. As a basis, a new modular platform for electric cars MEB is used. As the power unit, two electric motors are used. The total power is about 300 hp. and about 700 Nm of torque.
The cost and date of start of crossover sales has not yet been announced.
