On November 3, two Chinese models of the Volkswagen ID family were officially released. – ID.4 Crozz and ID.4 X with an estimated cost of less than 250 thousand yuan and a maximum range of 555 km. Both modifications will go on sale in early 2021.

China will become one of the key markets for Volkswagen ID.4. The German automaker has presented here two versions of the electric crossover at once, which will be produced at different Chinese enterprises with a capacity of 300 thousand vehicles per year: FAW and SAIC. At the same time, almost identical components will be used for their production.

Volkswagen ID.4 Crozz, an analogue of the European version of the car, will roll off the FAW-VW assembly line. The main difference will be the decor and nameplates. In addition, the Chinese version has 20-inch alloy wheels instead of 19-inch steel wheels. SAIC-VW will be producing the Volkswagen ID.4 X, which features more prominent bumpers, revised lights and rim designs.

The ID.4 X is not only longer than the Crozz (4,612mm versus 4,592mm) but is 11mm taller thanks to a different suspension. In the cabin, although there is a general architecture and main elements, the design of the front panel, the configuration of the central tunnel and the seat upholstery are different. Both models are equipped with Travel Assist adaptive cruise control (level 2 autopilot).

Unlike the European version, the “Chinese” ID.4 will receive a high-capacity battery: 85 instead of 82 kWh. The electric range of the model will be 550 km on the NEDC cycle. The rear-wheel drive Volkswagen ID.4 with one 204 hp electric motor will be available to Chinese buyers. and 310 Nm, as well as all-wheel drive modifications with two electric motors with a capacity of 306 hp. and 460 Nm. The maximum speed is limited to 160 km / h.

Chinese dealers have already opened order books for both versions of the Volkswagen ID.4 electric vehicle. The starting price has not yet been announced, but the company says it will not exceed 250,000 yuan, taking into account government subsidies.
