All-terrain vehicles made their debut together with the third-generation Touareg.
The premiere of the Volkswagen Touareg took place at a special event in Beijing. Only one of the new all-terrain vehicles is already a production model. It’s about the third generation Touareg, it will soon be released to the European and Chinese markets. Other novelties are still in the status of prototypes, and the trade names of two of them are not disclosed.
So, in Beijing showed the concept of Volkswagen Advanced Mid-Size SUV. In the design of the exterior of the car traced features of the five-seater VW Atlas, the only sketch of which the brand distributed a few days ago. Recall that in Russia the three-row crossover is sold under the name Teramont, the appearance of the five-seat modification is still in doubt. Production of Advanced Mid-Size SUV will be installed in China at the joint venture of Volkswagen and FAW by the end of this year, there are no other data on the model.
Another concept debuted as the Powerful Family SUV. According to local media, it is built on the basis of the Chinese version of Skoda Karoq, which is 50 mm longer than the European SUV. Most likely, the Czech model will get the engines: in China Karoq is available with turbo engines 1.2 TSI (116 hp) and 1.4 TSI (150 hp). Issue a new SUV will be a joint venture of SAIC Volkswagen. By the way, it is expected that in other countries Powerful Family SUV will be reincarnated in the crossover Tharu, which in the line of the brand will be on the step below Tiguan.
Back in Beijing, a pre-series local version of T-Roc was introduced. From the European version the model differs in dimensions: the length of the chinese cross-country is increased to 4,318 mm (+84 mm in comparison with the “European”), the wheelbase has grown to 2,680 mm (+77 mm). In China, the Volkswagen T-Roc will be offered with a 150-horsepower 1.4 TSI petrol turbocharter, the engine will be combined with a seven-band DSG robot. According to preliminary data, the crossover can be bought with both front and all-wheel drive.
Finally, in China, the rechargeable hybrid VW Tiguan L debuted (the letter L denotes again an elongated version). Such a cross is equipped with a gasoline engine 1.4 TSI and two electric motors, the cumulative output is about 200 hp. Before the Chinese dealers, the hybrid Tiguan will get in the summer of 2018, later it will appear in other markets.
