In 2021, Volkswagen will begin to produce in Europe a new compact coupe-crossover, which was developed for the global market by the Brazilian division of the concern. This was reported by the press service of the German automaker.
This is a small crossover, which the company calls the New Urban Coupe. According to unofficial data, the model will be located one step below the T-Cross and will be called T-Sport. The basis of the SUV will be the modular platform MQB-A0, on which the new generation Polo hatchback is based. The length of the car will not exceed four meters with a wheelbase of 2560 millimeters.
The launch of the model in the Brazilian market is scheduled for spring 2020. As expected, the gasoline turbo engine with a working volume of 1 liter with a capacity of 115 liters will enter the line of engines. with., as well as a 1.6-liter atmospheric unit, issuing 120 horsepower. Motors will be able to work in tandem with a five-speed “mechanics” or with a six-band “automatic”.
In Brazil, the production of a coupe-crossover will establish at the Volkswagen company in the municipality of Ansieta (state of Espirito Santo). It is possible that the version for Europe will get on the conveyor of the plant in the Spanish Navarre, where Polo hatchbacks are produced.
