Volkswagen on Wednesday, September 9, shared a teaser for the new cross for the US market, which will sit in the lineup in front of the Tiguan. The car will debut on October 13 this year.
It is expected to be a Tarek, which will be produced in Mexico for the North American market. This will be a modified version of the Tharu cross, which has been offered in China for two years.
The car is built on the MQB platform with a multi-link suspension. The machine has a length of 4453 mm, a width of 1841 mm, a height of 1632 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2680 mm. Trunk volume ranges from 455 in the standard configuration to 1543 liters – with the rear row of seats folded down.
In the PRC, the range of cross-country engines includes a 150-horsepower “turbo four” with a volume of 1.4 liters and a 186-horsepower engine of 2.0 liters. Together with both units, a 7-speed robotized gearbox with two clutches and a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive system function.
In addition, it was recently noted that the official presentation of the Volkswagen Tiguan X took place. It should be emphasized that the new model of the German company is intended exclusively for the Chinese market. The cost of the novelty is 250,000 yuan.
