Volkswagen Golf in 2018 retained the title of the best-selling European marketJanuary 31, 2019
The German hatchback has not parted with this title for ten years. Even the decline in demand, which analysts recorded at the end of 2018, could not move the model from its place.
Foreign experts have named the most sold models of the European market in 2018. The leader of the rating remained unchanged – for the tenth year in a row, the Volkswagen Golf hatchback remains the most favorite car of Europeans. Last year, this model demonstrated an eight percent decline in sales, which, by the way, did not affect the balance of power in the thematic TOP. Experts attribute the negative dynamics to the fall in sales volumes of German hatchbacks with a diesel engine under the hood (-30%).
Renault Clio managed to increase its sales by two percent and is located on the second line of the rating (336 268 buyers). Third place is taken by another car from the Volkswagen model line – the legendary Polo (299,920 cars; + 10%). Analysts gave fourth place to Ford Fiesta (270,738 units), and fifth place to the compact Nissan Qashqai crossover (233,026 cars).
Complement the “top ten” Peugeot 208, Volkswagen Tiguan compact cross, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Yaris small hatchback and Opel / Vauxhall Corsa.
