Volkswagen continues to fuel interest in new GolfOctober 13, 2019
In addition to yesterday’s sketches of the model, Volkswagen released a video that clearly shows the evolution of the front of the exterior of the seven predecessors of the car.
On October 24, the official premiere of the model will be held in Wolfsburg, but for now, brand admirers are trying to interest the new generation of the car. From the video it becomes clear that it has become more modern and dynamic and, in comparison with the first model, it looks just a resident of another galaxy. On the eve of the official premiere, the company released a commercial, at the very end of which a sketch of the front of the car is shown.
The latest Golf 8 teaser follows seven similar sketches and related images that give an idea of how the design of the popular hatchback has evolved since 1974. VW has been perfecting the face of the car for decades, and each subsequent generation is very slightly different from the previous one, but if you line them up in a row, then the transformation becomes obvious.
We suspect that skeptics will once again criticize VW for the fact that the designers did not have the courage to revolutionary rather than evolutionary transformations. But the model has been popular for almost half a century, so was it worth it to embark on dangerous experiments, because everything works just fine?
If you follow the proposed logic, a video should soon appear of the evolution of the rear of the car and the instrument panel. More knowledgeable German media claim that the company abandoned the traditional abundance of buttons and knobs in favor of touch control. This makes the interior less cluttered, as if it appears more “air”.
About motors officially not yet reported, but German media write that the new Golf 8 Volkswagen in all four-cylinder versions will receive a hybrid drive. There will be many motors with different types of power. A 1.4-liter gasoline will give way to a 1.5-liter, with a capacity of 130 and 150 hp. There will also be engines with a capacity of 1.0 liter, with a capacity of 95 and 116 hp, and a 2-liter with four power levels from 136 to 204 hp. The latter will be equipped exclusively with a variator. Remain and turbodiesels of 1.6 and 2.0 liters.
