Photos from the tests of two new Volkswagen vehicles published by Autohome. In the foreground is a local version of the compact T-Cross crossover, the closest relative of which is the hatch VW Polo. Global SUV will be presented in October 2018, the Chinese version also, most likely, will make its debut before the end of this year: judging by the pictures, it will differ slightly in design. In addition, it is expected that for the Chinese-designed crossover for 90 mm will increase the wheelbase (2,653 mm for the Chinese version against 2563 mm for the global model). But for T-Cross on spy shots a new minivan is visible, which VW has not yet announced.

The doors of the second model serve as a proof that the crossover “hides” namely the van: the handles are next to each other, that is, the rear door is sliding. The front part of the novelty is made in the corporate style of the brand – MPV received LED optics and a radiator grille, like the VW Tayron crossover and the Lavida Plus sedan, again designed for the Celestial Empire.

According to unofficial data, the novelty will be offered with a 2.0 liter turbo four 2.0 series EA888, which is equipped with many other models of the German brand presented in the Celestial Empire.

It is expected that the production of the minivan will be adjusted in China at the plant of the joint venture Volkswagen and SAIC, in the same place today they produce the compact car Touran. The same company, apparently, will produce a local version of the crossover T-Cross. Information about the timing of the premiere minivan yet. Also, it is not known whether the new MPV Volkswagen will get out of the Chinese market.

In China, the main competitors of the novelty will be Buick GL8 and Honda Odyssey. Note that the minivan Buick leads in its segment among foreign brands – in 2017 in China sold 145,853 of these cars (they sell models of new and previous generations simultaneously). The choice on the last year’s Honda was stopped by 35 318 people.
