Volkswagen brought to Los Angeles coupe version of Atlas Cross SportNovember 21, 2019
In the United States, the Atlas Cross Sport coupe-shaped crossover, built on the basis of the seven-seater Atlas, made its debut. Due to the redrawn body, the model was left without a third row of seats.
At the motor show in Los Angeles, the public premiere of the new coupe-like Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport crossover took place. The brand presented to the public a serial version of the prototype Atlas Sport, which debuted back in 2018. Novelty, despite the fact that she had to lose the third row of seats, gets the most spacious salon in its class. Another of its advantages is its spectacular appearance, which will definitely interest a young audience.
The coupe-shaped Atlas Cross Sport has become shorter by 71 mm – now its length reaches 4 966 mm and lower by 58 mm (1 720 mm). But the width and wheelbase remained the same – 1 979 and 2 980 mm, respectively.
The novelty completely borrowed the motor range from the full-size “donor”. Under the hood of the cross-coupe, a two-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 238 hp can be hidden or the 280-hp engine 3.6 liters. Both are combined with 8AKPP. The drive can be either front or full. The assembly of a coupe-like SUV will be carried out by the American brand plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The usual Atlas and Passat sedan, created specifically for the US market, are leaving the assembly line of this enterprise today. On sale Atlas Cross Sport will appear in the first half of 2020.
Meanwhile, the new Mini John Cooper Works GP has already debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This extreme hatchback will be released in a limited edition.
