Volkswagen Bonneville Jetta received more than 493 hpAugust 8, 2018
According to insiders, in the new high-performance version of the Jetta GLI, under the hood there will be a slightly redesigned modification of the same 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, the power of which will obviously be much less than 493 horsepower.
Representatives of the Volkswagen brand may well say that the Volkswagen Bonneville Jetta is almost an industrial version of the Jetta sedan, but there is a huge difference in power between the usual performance of this car and the so-called “charged” one.
If the standard Volkswagen Jetta sedan has a 1.4-liter power unit with a power of 147 horsepower under its hood, the performance of the Bonneville model boasts a power that is almost 3.5 times larger.
To be precise, we are talking about 493 hp, which can develop a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine TSI (family EA888). It is noteworthy that this engine can easily develop all 500 hp.
According to representatives of the company Volkswagen, 493-strong modification Bonneville Jetta was built on the basis of the Jetta GLI version. By the way, the last car is most likely to receive the same motor, but its power will not be so great – you can expect about 220 hp and 350 Nm of torque.
When can we see a new version of the “charged” Jetta GLI? VW promises that “the car will soon be introduced to the US”. Let’s remind our readers that the Jetta of the new generation will not be sold in the automotive markets of Europe. We can assume that with a more productive version of the car will be the same.
At the moment, it is known that the new Jetta GLI will receive a 7-speed transmission with a 2nd clutch as an alternative to the standard 6-speed manual transmission, and an independent rear suspension received from the “charged” Golf GTI.
Finally, we note that in the coming days, a specially built Jetta Bonneville will try to conquer the speed mark at 335.5 km / h.
