Volkswagen announced the premiere of a serial electric crossoverSeptember 10, 2019
Volkswagen showed at the Frankfurt Motor Show a strongly camouflaged crossover called ID.4. The car will go on sale in Europe in 2021 and will become a serial embodiment of the Crozz concept. The novelty will be built on the MEB platform, which is designed exclusively for cars with electric motors. It is expected that the crossover will be able to use different types of power plants.
In addition to versions with one electric motor, the car will be offered in four-wheel drive versions with two power units mounted on each axis. A similar scheme was used by the Crozz concept. The prototype was equipped with two electrical units. The first, located on the front axle, develops 102 horsepower. The second, driving the rear wheels, gives out 203 forces. Thus, the total return of the units amounted to 305 horsepower. The crossover is capable of accelerating from standstill to 100 km / h in 6 s, and its maximum speed was 180 km per hour.
The car has already been seen several times in test trials. Most likely, the new product will not differ much from the prototype, which first debuted in 2017 at the Shanghai Motor Show. The overall length of the concept was 4625 mm, width – 1891 mm, and height – 1609 millimeters. The size of the wheelbase is 2773 millimeters.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show, the main premiere of Volkswagen was an environmentally friendly hatchback called ID.3. Worldwide car sales will begin early next year. At the moment, anyone can already pre-order the new product by paying 1000 euros. ID.3 was also the first Volkswagen model to receive a new brand logo. The emblem has become flat, in the manner of emblems on the old Beetle. In total, by 2025, the Germans plan to launch in a series of more than 20 cars with electric power plants.
The five-door hatchback uses special flat batteries that are located under the floor of the car. This is done in order to increase the interior space of the car. In terms of size, the novelty is comparable to Golf. The length of the novelty is 4261 mm, the width is 1809 mm, and the height is 1552 mm. The size of the wheelbase is 2765 millimeters. The mass of the electric car is 1719 kilograms.
