Volkswagen added stroke to the gas versions of the Polo TGI and Golf TGIFebruary 2, 2019
In the model range of the German company Volkswagen there are quite a few cars equipped with factory equipment for methane. The most popular are Polo TGI and Golf TGI. These hatchbacks have undergone modernization.
Volkswagen has made its compressed natural gas models even more attractive to buyers. Gas modifications of the Polo TGI and Golf TGI are now equipped with a third cylinder, thanks to this innovation, the manufacturer managed to increase the range of such machines.
It is known that we are talking about numbers up to 368 and 422 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. An additional cylinder of high-strength steel receives a special coating and is located in front of the rear axle.
In the case of the Polo, the third tank is designed for 16.5 liters of gas, which increases its total volume to 91.5 liters (or 13.8 kg of methane). The power reserve in this situation grows to 368 km. “Golf” boasts a more solid indicator – 422 km. With the new tank (+23 liters), the capacity of the entire system increased to 115 liters (17.3 kg of methane). It is noted that after updating the gas tank of these models has become noticeably smaller.
The manufacturer is confident that the buyers of the novelties will use gas as the main fuel, while they will need gasoline only for safety net. For example, to get to the nearest gas station – there are over 900 of them in Germany.
