Vietnamese cars VinFast based on BMW debuted in Paris

At the Paris Motor Show, there was a public debut of the first Vietnamese VinFast models. The LUX A2.0 sedan and the LUX SA2.0 crossover still carry prototype status: the machines built on the BMW 5-Series and X5 platforms will be installed next spring in the conveyor of the plant in Haiphong.

The length of the VinFast LUX A2.0 sedan is 4973 millimeters, width – 1900 millimeters, height – 1464 millimeters. In terms of dimensions, the Vietnamese car is slightly larger than the current BMW Five (with the exception of height). The size of the wheelbase fully complies with the BMW 5 Series in the body of the F10 / F11 and is 2968 millimeters. The crossover (4940x1960x1773 millimeters) was larger, taller, but already the current generation X5.

In January, VinFast acquired a license to use BMW carts and engines with TwinPower technology. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

The range of powertrains VinFast consists of a two-liter “turbo”, presumably based on the BMW N20. The impact of the units is 176 hp and 300 Nm of torque, and 231 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic. In the base drive will be rear, full – option.

From a spot to a hundred, the sedan can accelerate in 8.9 and 7.1 seconds, respectively. Rear-wheel drive suv with a 231-horsepower engine takes 8.9 seconds, the all-wheel drive – 9.1 seconds.

On the design of the machines worked Italian studio Pininfarina. According to the manufacturer, the machines combine “Vietnamese spirit, Italian design and German technologies”, while they themselves are a symbol of the “powerful, progressive spirit of the new, energetic and developing Vietnam.”
