The engine is reliable, in it a little that breaks. Therefore, we have the opportunity to earn points, which is very important. Of course, I would like more power, but we knew it. Honda is hard at work trying to make improvements. We have nothing to complain about.
But we can not only talk about the engine, we also need to deal with their problems. We need to try to increase downforce and generally achieve a more stable balance of the car during the race. Therefore, we have a lot of cases, and I hope we can upgrade the car faster than Mercedes and Ferrari. But so far everything is working out …
I like working with the Japanese. These are calm, but very purposeful people. They understand how big their role in the team is. When I have a problem, they quickly solve it. They have test benches in Japan, and on the basis of Honda in Milton Keynes, where the Red Bull Racing base is also located. Great that they are very close. If we identify a problem on Friday, they try to figure it out right away using their stands. It happens that you get behind the wheel the next day, and they have already managed to adjust some settings and solve the problem. “
When asked what he would like to change in Formula 1, Max categorically stated: “Tires. Now they are very sensitive and overheat quickly. Then the car starts to slide harder, and it becomes harder to chase rivals. Therefore, to fight throughout the race is very difficult.
The DRS system helps to get closer, but actually I don’t want to rely on it. Also, after a fast lap in qualifying, you have to slow down to drive another fast lap. This is due to the fact that the rubber needs to be cooled, which takes a lot of time. The same thing happens during the race. I would like to go much faster.
In addition, we should be less dependent on engines. Now the difference between the power plants is too great. In the past few years, the victory was mainly won by a team with the best engines. In general, the difference in power should not exceed 20-30 hp
