Updated Renault Megane RS Trophy R seen on testsOctober 8, 2019
Renault brought to the test a “charged” Megane hatchback with slight design changes.
The entire Renault Megane family of models went through facelift, and these spy shots for the first time show an updated version of the RS Trophy R, which nevertheless bears a resemblance to the standard RS Trophy.
This hatchback almost does not wear camouflage, and the only thing that the pieces of the blue film hide is part of the grille and fascia. If this is a Trophy R, then it’s strange not to see an outstanding hood. This may be due to the fact that the car in these spy shots is a pre-production model, and Renault wants to keep a few secrets in secret. The taillights of the updated Megane show quite clearly the part of the lamp below, as well as a couple of round Trophy R exhausts that go out from the center of the diffuser.
The existing Megane RS Trophy R is equipped with a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine, its power is 296 horsepower and a torque of 400 Nm. The Renault Sport team eased it by 130 kg, eliminating the rear seats.
The main changes in the power plant for the updated Trophy R at the moment remain a mystery. However, the model was recently introduced into the Renault lineup after its debut in May. Therefore, the engineers did not have much time to develop high-performance components to make the most “charged” Megane even faster.
It is also not yet clear when the updated Megane can debut. According to preliminary information, the model may be presented at the next Geneva Motor Show, which will be held in March 2020.
