Updated Jeep Compass spotted on testsSeptember 29, 2020
The 2022 Jeep Compass features more lights while hiding the grille.
Jeep aficionados around the world are currently focused on the new Grand Wagoneer, introduced in early September as a concept, as well as the V8-powered Wrangler in development. Jeep is also preparing updates to the Compass compact SUV.
This is the second time that restyled prototypes have since hit the lenses of spy cameras. The pictures show the cars still completely hidden in camouflage film and heavy covers in the front. Regardless, the front fascia is unlikely to change much: Jeep’s iconic seven-slat grille is likely to remain, although it could slightly increase in size. From the pictures, the new headlights will retain the basic styling of the current Compass, but appear narrower.
While the camouflage film on the rear hides the Jeep Compass body lines well, the lack of coverage suggests the rear end changes are not as drastic. They only include redesigned taillights and a slightly revised lower rear fascia. Under the hood, the Compass is expected to retain its current powerplant options.
Inside, the dashboard will feature a new infotainment screen in the form of a tablet that is completely different from the current model. As such, the essence of this restyling will focus on creating a fresh interior with cleaner lines and fewer manual controls.
The updated compact SUV will be unveiled next year, probably in the first quarter. This would make it the new global offering for the 2022 Jeep lineup.
