Updated Hyundai Sonata sedan can get all-wheel driveMarch 31, 2019
The South Korean Hyundai Sonata 2020 model year may receive a four-wheel drive version, while the creation of such a car is possible only for the US market.
Absolutely new Hyundai Sonata received a completely different exterior design, which fully corresponds to the new style of the brand, called Sensuous Sportiness. World presentation of the new Hyundai Sonata will be held at the upcoming auto show in New York.
In addition to the version of the car, which is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, representatives of the South Korean automaker are not in a hurry to disclose details about their new product.
What we really know is that the midsize sedan is built on the basis of the new platform with the internal designation N3.
The official spokesman for the brand, Je Young Kim, in his recent interview, shared some details about the updated sedan. When local media reporters asked about the possibility of creating a four-wheel drive version for the US market, he replied, “Yes … currently we are considering the need to create a four-wheel-drive version of the Hyundai Sonata,” he said.
Why is such a car performance necessary for the US market? The fact is that all-wheel drive cars are highly respected in this country. Since not everyone in the US needs SUVs / crossovers, especially all-wheel drive, mid-size sedans are still in great demand. This is about the Subaru Legacy, Nissan Altima, and now, perhaps, the 2020 Hyundai Sonata.
