Updated Genesis G70 will receive a manual transmissionMarch 18, 2020
According to official figures, the South Korean premium sedan Genesis G70 2021 model year will be offered with a manual transmission.
The Genesis G70 is one of the latest luxury sedans still available with a manual transmission. Even the latest versions of the German BMW 3 Series or Mercedes-Benz C-Class are no longer offered with manual transmission. But even after a significant update of the South Korean model, the presentation of which is due to take place in 2021, Genesis plans to retain the “mechanics” for the compact G70 sedan.
According to official figures, the updated Genesis G70 will retain its 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplant, which works with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Fuel consumption for in this case will also apparently remain – the city is 13.06 liters per 100 km., 8.4 liters. highway and 10.69 in combined mode. The same engine will be available with an automatic eight-speed automatic transmission.
With the debut of the GV80, we thought that the G70 sedan could switch to a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine that complements the crossover and abandon the six-speed manual gearbox. What is unclear is whether Genesis can offer its sedan with the new twin-turbo 3.5-liter engine that the crossover is equipped with or not. We’ll have to wait for news from Genesis about this.
In addition to the powertrain, expect the Genesis G70 2021 to undergo a fairly large “facelift”. “Spy” photos hint that the sedan will have new body panels and fresh design features that will make it look like a GV80 crossover. The updated Genesis sedan will debut in a few months.
