Updated Ford Explorer crossover got a hybrid versionApril 3, 2019
The updated crossover is interesting enough to learn more about it. Now Explorer is able to travel up to 40 km by electric.
Modern trends force all large companies, and concerns to invest heavily in the electrification of their model line. The Ford brand was not an exception and actively presents new items with varying degrees of electrification. In the European market, the novelty will be available in two versions – Explorer ST-Line and Platinum. A feature of the model is the average fuel consumption of 3.4 liters per 100 km.
At the head of the hybrid system is a 3.0-liter turbo engine, capable of developing up to 350 horsepower. In tandem with him works the electric motor for 100 horsepower. The power source for electric traction is a 13.1 kWh battery. This allows the car to travel up to 40 km exclusively on the electric. The total power of the new Explorer is 450 horsepower and 840 Nm of torque.
Batteries of the power plant can be charged from an ordinary home power outlet, however how long it will take to do this is not specified. European sales of the SUV will begin this year (exact dates are not called yet).
