Updated DeLorean or on what will now go “back to the future”July 11, 2019
On this renderer, the legendary car on which the heroes of the film “Back to the Future” traveled in time, retains iconic elements, but in general it is a new car.
Largely due to the iconic role in the “Back to the Future” franchise, the Delorean car is still instantly recognizable, despite the small production cycle lasting only a few years.
In a new video from a certain Sketch Monkey, a talented artist presents what a modern version of the legendary coupe might look like.
Giorgetto Giugiaro created the original design for DeLorean. The wedge-shaped exterior has the same touches as some of his other creations, such as the original Lotus Espirit and Volkswagen Scirocco. The guys from the Sketch Monkey team have outlined the most important elements of the DeLorean style, such as a flat hood, a curved slotted door line, and a corner transition between the roof and the back of the car. To rejuvenate the look of the model, the guys remove old-fashioned headlights, but retain their square look. Thin horizontal bars still cover the grille between the lights.
The flat hood is still in place, but the expansion of the front wing has disappeared. At the back, the new design is devoid of glass sections in the side, which are largely useful from the functional point of view of the original DeLorean – they visually expand the interior. Losing this item in rendering takes away some personality from the entire back of the machine.
