Updated crossover Kia Sportage will be presented in 2021
January 16, 2021The new KIA Sportage will debut in the first half of this year. This became known at today’s KIA online presentation, which was timed to coincide with the brand’s new global strategy.
So, rumors about the postponement of the debut date of the restyled Sportage turned out to be true. At first, the dates were shifted due to uncertainty in the design and technical solutions of the crossover, and after that, apparently, the situation was affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
About the crossover itself, however, there is not much information at the moment. It is assumed that the updated Sportage will be based on the Hyundai Tucson platform, and its design will show the new corporate identity of KIA. It is expected that the novelty will acquire “bunk” headlights, an enlarged grille and an angular body shape.
The interior, for sure, will overlap with the already replaced generation Sorento, therefore, it will receive a similar architecture – with a free-standing screen of the infotainment complex, a fully digital dashboard and a washer instead of the classic gearshift lever.
Engines and transmissions of the upcoming novelty are likely to come from the soplatform Hyundai Tucson, for which two turbo engines (petrol and diesel), two “soft” hybrids and a full-fledged hybrid unit are announced.
In addition, some time ago it was noted that the South Korean company Kia showed its own new special electric car in a teaser image. It is worth saying that this electric car will be built on the modular E-GMP architecture.
