While everyone eagerly awaits the arrival of the Blackwing, Cadillac fills the gap between the base CT5 and CT5-V.

The 2021 Cadillac CT5-V is currently the most powerful General Motors sedan with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 360 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. It is much more powerful than the “regular” 335-horsepower CT5 with a V6 engine, but soon it will give way to the more powerful CT5-V Blackwing model with a supercharged V8.

According to foreign media reports, the 2021 CT5 will soon be available with the V Performance package. This Pack borrows some of the features from the CT5-V to offer a better price on the CT5 Sport.

The V Performance Package is internally code RPO Y43 and includes Magnetic Ride Control adaptive dampers, dynamic suspension and a mechanical limited slip differential. The V Performance Package is not included in the price, but requires the additional installation of Brembo V Performance brakes. Buyers can only order this package for the RWD CT5.

All of these features come standard on the CT5-V but will now be available as an option on the CT5 Sport. As a reminder, the CT5 Sport is available exclusively with a base 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 237bhp. and 350 Nm of torque. The package should satisfy buyers who want a sporty handling car without the added V6 features.

Honestly, it’s hard to imagine why anyone would choose the V Performance package instead of just going for the CT5-V. The CT5 Sport at least has a reasonable starting MSRP of $ 42,690, which is $ 6,000 less than the CT5-V. Considering that the V Performance Package only costs around $ 2,000, it still puts the CT5 Sport too close to the CT5-V.
