Updated Bugatti Chiron officially unveiledMarch 3, 2020
Due to the modernized gearbox, the novelty received the best dynamic characteristics.
Bugatti unveiled an updated version of its Chiron hypercar called Pur Sport. Last year, the head of the brand announced two new products for 2020, and the first of them was released today. The main innovations were improved handling, redistribution of power, as well as the addition of new aerodynamic elements. Although the Chiron Pur Sport retained the 8.0-liter W16 engine, its dynamics got better. This became possible after reconfiguring the gearbox – now the red line of revolutions starts at around 6900 rpm instead of 6700 rpm.
Due to the lower gear ratios of the gearbox, it was possible to increase power and accelerate the response of the power plant to pressing the gas pedal. The car received a new wide spoiler, which provides a high level of downforce in the corners. At the front, the air openings have become wider – this is done to better exhaust air flow.
Bugatti has specially developed new wheels that provide better ventilation for the brakes for better cooling. The front wheels are 285/30 R20 and the rear 355/25 R21.
To ensure better handling and more efficient acceleration, Bugatti engineers fought for every kilogram of weight – using new brake pads and discs, the car became 16 kg lighter. A total of 16 copies of the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport will be released. The cost of the car will be 3.2 million euros, production will begin in the second half of this year.
