The company has published a teaser for a supercar.
Division Audi Sport has published a teaser for the updated R8. From the current car supercar differs design of the bumper and three air intakes in front of the edge of the hood. Previously, this solution was tested on the R8 LMS GT3 Evo racing.
According to rumors, together with the R8 update, the German manufacturer will present a “simplified” version of the supercar with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine from RS4 Avant and RS5. However, representatives of the brand the possibility of the emergence of such a unit in the line is still rejected. It is also assumed that the performance of the V10 engine on the R8 can bring on the Lamborghini Huracan Performante indicator – 640 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. Now the R8 engine produces 610 power and 560 Nm of torque.
The next-generation Audi R8 is not expected to be offered with the engine. The company will abandon traditional power plants and will present a model only with an electric power plant. From the current supercar, it will differ in proportions and design, based on the ideas laid down by the conceptual PB18 e-tron.
This prototype, presented in August at Monterey Car Week, was equipped with three electric motors with a capacity of 680 forces, which allow accelerate to 100 km/h in about two seconds.
