Unofficially: Sebastien Loeb has signed a contract with HyundaiDecember 13, 2018
Nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb signed a contract with Hyundai to participate in the WRC in 2019, according to the British edition of Autosport.
The official statement, as well as the details of the program of the 44-year-old French racer, is expected this coming Thursday.
Loeb himself previously ruled out the possibility of returning to the full schedule of the world rally championship. In particular, due to the performance on Dakar-2019, his participation in the Monte-Carlo Rally is unlikely, which will take place just a week after the finish of the rally-raid in Peru.
Last week, Hyundai Motorsport manager Alain Penasse confirmed that the company was in contact with Loeb, but there were no surprises at the starting stage of the 2019 season for crews – Thierry Neuville, Dani Sordo and Andreas Mikkelsen will perform i20 Coupe WRC factory cars.
Throughout his racing career – in the WRC, WTCC, WRX and Dakar – Loeb has always represented the brand of the concern PSA Group. So if the Hyundai contract is a deal, then in 2019 the Frenchman will represent another car company for the first time.
