Unique car with a body Mercedes-Benz SLK put up for saleNovember 18, 2019
An interesting project atelier Status & Class is currently in the possession of an Italian collector. For the car asking 490 thousand euros.
On the eve of the sale appeared a rare and interesting instance of the car. We are talking about the OPAC Contender XG project, on which the Status & Class tuning studio worked. A feature of the car is its appearance, which combines the features of the Mercedes-Benz SLK and G-Class. Such cars were produced in the period from 1996 to 1999, and the circulation was only five copies. The developers took the Mercedes-Benz SLK R170 roadster as a basis for the car and modified its appearance. Of the design, it is worth noting the changed headlights, wings and a new roof, which now does not open.
But the interior of the car was made almost anew. The main changes affected the finishing materials.
Armchairs are trimmed with expensive leather, and inserts from exclusive varieties of wood appeared in the design of the central panel. Also, developers have slightly changed the management of auto systems.
But from the technical point of view, the car almost completely repeats the legendary “Helik” in the modification of the G320. Under the hood is a 3.2-liter power unit with a return of 211 hp, working in tandem with an automatic transmission of 4 stages. In the late 90s, this combination was considered one of the best on the market. OPAC Contender XG inherited the suspension and chassis from Gelendvagen, thanks to which the mass of the car reached an impressive 2,180 kg. The car for sale is in the possession of an Italian collector. The mileage of the car is only 11 thousand kilometers. The owner is ready to part with her for 490 thousand euros
