UK New Car Sales Continue to FallMarch 9, 2020
In February, the volume of sales of new cars decreased by 2.9%.
Specialists of the analytics and statistics agency Avtostat shared data on sales of new cars in the UK in February this year. Last month, residents of the UK bought a total of 79,594 new cars, which is 2.9% lower than last year’s result for the same period. Sales of new cars in the UK in February are traditionally low – their growth is observed in March before the entry into force of new excise tax rates.
If we talk about the first two months of this year, official dealers in the UK were able to sell 228,873 new cars, which is 5.8% lower than for the same period in 2019. The most popular brand was Volkswagen, whose cars sold 8 948 units. (+ 12.4%).
The second position is occupied by the American Ford, which showed the result of 8,462 cars sold. Among the leaders, it was Ford that showed the worst dynamics – “minus” 18.6%.
The premium German brand BMW receives the Bronze rating, its official dealers were able to sell 6,652 copies (-3.1%). The fourth line is occupied by Mercedes-Benz with an indicator of 5,745 pcs. (-5.6%). The British Vauxhall closes the TOP-5 – brand dealers managed to find buyers for 5,132 cars (+ 4.6%).
