Uber resumes testing drones after a fatal accident

The company filed a test request in Pennsylvania, USA, and the local Transportation Ministry approved it.

In March of this year, testing autonomous Uber taxi in Arizona ended in the death of a pedestrian – a car hit a woman crossing the road. After that, the company ceased operations for four months, and resumed in July, but the taxi was definitely driven by a man.

Tests of UAVs have been resumed since November, but Uber is in no hurry to return them to public roads. First of all, the issue of traffic safety will be resolved.

First of all, it is planned to conduct thorough monitoring, to limit working hours and to plant two observers in robotaxi at once. No one knows how much the technology has been improved by the company, but the state authorities will closely monitor the tests so that the March tragedy does not happen again.
