UAV Seat proved electric quadricycleFebruary 25, 2019
Minimó is seen as a replacement for traditional citycars.
Seat has unveiled the Minimó unmanned electric quadricycle. New car is for carsharing operators and is equipped with a removable battery pack.
Seat claims that Minimó is the answer to the main problems of urban mobility: traffic jams, lack of parking spaces, the introduction of “green” areas with access only for environmentally friendly cars. The length of the quadricycle is only 2.5 meters, and its width is 1.24 meters. An electric car is almost two and a half times smaller than a conventional subcompact hatchback.
Seat Minimó is equipped with one headlight, like a motorcycle, and the design of the rear lights is borrowed from aeronautics. Doors are asymmetrical and open top to save space. On a single charge, the quadricycle passes about 100 kilometers. The battery is made quick-detachable, which will replace it in just a few seconds.
In the Minimó cabin, one after another can accommodate a driver and one passenger. For luggage there is a small niche. A digital key is used to access the quadricycle. The electric car is already compatible with systems of autonomous control of the fourth level, which will allow it to move independently in specially designated areas for UAVs.
The development of Minimó has become part of the 5G Barcelona program, which aims to be the first in Europe to fully deploy fifth-generation networks. Together with the Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica Seat intends to conduct sea trials of a prototype that can communicate with other vehicles and infrastructure. However, the pilot launch dates are not yet announced.
