Tuners have developed a manual transmission for the BMW M3 (E46)August 4, 2020
DK Engineering has developed a mechanical transmission for the Bavarian legend. Complete kit for manual transmission installation for BMW M3 CSL in E46 body starts from $ 4,500
BMW M3 CSL in the back of E46 is one of the most popular models of the German brand. Until now, this car is very popular with fans of the brand. Of course, there is no doubt that the BMW M3 E46 was and remains an amazing car, but the lack of a manual transmission on this car was a disappointment for many. Until now.
Tuning company DK Engineering from Banbury is now offering to install a manual transmission in the E46 M3 CSL, which replaces the factory robotized transmission.
“While the E46 M3 CSL is an ideal road vehicle, its SMG robotic transmission leaves a lot to be desired,” said lead supercar expert James Cottingham of DK Engineering. “Our manual transmission for the BMW M3 E46 is fully tested and ready for mass use.”
The company sells a complete installation kit, including the clutch pedal and gear lever. The manual transmission is reported to use 180 Genuine BMW Parts.
During the fitting process, which takes several days, the gearbox is removed from the vehicle. A self-centering shifter is then added, along with a new clutch and flywheel, after which the ECM is recoded to work with the new manual transmission.
Since the CSL is more of a collector’s car these days, the whole process is completely reversible, ensuring that the car can retain its value.
The complete kit costs at least $ 4,500
