Trunk Chevy Corvette 2020 may open while drivingJuly 10, 2020
The American brand was sent several complaints about the spontaneous opening of the trunk while driving. At the moment, there were no comments from the automaker.
It turns out that even in the cool sports coupe Chevrolet Corvette generation C8 there may be malfunctions, which may well entail major consequences. We had heard about various complaints of the owners of this car. Some of them are as serious as the ergonomics of a sports coupe or the way the car locks even when the keys are inside, while others are as simple as the “defects” in the dashboard.
However, there is nothing more serious than this latest complaint about the iconic sports car.
According to reviews by real Corvette owners of the 2020 model year, there are some cases where the trunk lid spontaneously opens when the car is in motion, as seen in the video above.
It is reported that at the moment, the Chevrolet Corvette owners have filed a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States (NHTSA) regarding the opening of the trunk lid. The first was dated April 11, 2020, and the other on April 30, 2020. Both incidents were similar – the boot lid opened while the car was moving, blocking further driver visibility.
The Corvette 2020 model year displays a warning on the dashboard when the lid is open. Both complaints filed with the NHTSA indicated that the hood opens without warning.
There is currently no evidence of what causes the lid to open. There has not yet been an official comment on these complaints from Chevrolet.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the Hennessey Performance studio took on the Corvette Z06 model. A complete upgrade program for the 2-door Corvette C8 from Hennessey Performance is still under development. This was reported on Wednesday, July 8, in an American studio.
