Toyota Yaris named Car of the Year 2021March 2, 2021
The results of the European Car of the Year competition were summed up in Geneva. The title of the winner went to the updated Toyota Yaris hatchback.
The jury that chose the winner included 59 auto journalists from 22 European agencies, in particular, from the Russian Federation. It is worth mentioning that the presentation of the updated Yaris took place in 2019. It was Toyota’s debut model built on the GA-B modular platform. This architecture was specially developed for the new generation of compact machines, the length of which does not exceed 4 meters.
The most popular variant of the Yaris has a hybrid unit that includes a 1.5 liter gasoline engine, an electric motor and a CVT transmission. The overall performance of the power plant reaches 115 hp. Along with this, Yaris has an extreme modification of the GR, which has a 260-horsepower supercharged “triple” of 1.6 liters, and also a “high” Cross-variation.
According to JATO Dynamics, the Yaris hatchback became the most popular model in the European car market in January 2021. Here the sales of this car reached 18,094 units.
