Toyota will recall 1.6 million cars worldwideNovember 2, 2018
Japanese company Toyota announced a global recall of cars due to an error in the airbag control module
Toyota will recall about 1.6 million vehicles worldwide due to distressed airbags. In particular, the action will affect models Avensis and Corolla, reports AFP.
The recall was announced due to a possible error in the airbag control module that may not work during a collision. In other cases, the defect, on the contrary, can lead to involuntary system operation. For this reason, 1.06 million vehicles will be repaired, in which they will replace the pillow control unit. Works will take approximately one hour.
In addition, about 600 thousand cars will be withdrawn, 255 thousand of which will be sent for service in Europe. These machines found a malfunction of the airbag supercharger.
Earlier it became known that the company Toyota will send in the repair of 2.4 million cars with hybrid power plants. About 1.25 million cars will be repaired in Japan, and another 830 thousand cars will be recalled to the USA. In addition, the action will affect 290 thousand hybrids sold on the European market. Finally, the review will get some cars sold in China, Africa and Australia.
In “Toyota” said that in “rare cases” because of a failure in the hybrid system, the car’s electronics can switch to the so-called “protective mode”, which will lead to a loss of power or turn off the power unit.
