Toyota will offer Europeans electric versions of Proace City and ProaceJuly 11, 2019
It is expected that the start of sales of “green” car on the European market will take place in 2020-2021. Technical details have not yet been disclosed, however, according to experts, the Proace City electric van and the larger Proace will resemble the environmentally friendly modifications of Peugeot Expert and Citroen Jumpy.
Toyota plans to electrify its Proace City and Proace models. “Green” versions of these cars will appear in Europe in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Specific dates automaker does not name. There are no significant technical details. It is only known that the electric Toyota Proace City and Proace will be similar to the “green” modifications of Peugeot Expert and Partner, Citroen Jumpy and Berlingo, as well as the Opel Vivaro and Combo. All of them are based on a similar platform, which was created by the engineers of PSA Peugeot Citroen.
The emergence of electric vans will help Toyota to popularize the line of LCV, which recently formed into a new series of “Toyota Professional”. Over time, the brand also plans to launch the production of light commercial vehicles for various business areas.
Do not forget that in Europe the electric motor today is considered a serious competitive advantage. For example, electric delivery vans are highly valued in European cities, where they actively advocate reducing harmful emissions. For the time being, in some European cities a ban is imposed on the appearance of a certain class of diesel engines in the center. In the future, if the tightening of the requirements is encouraging, entry to historical areas of cities will be open only to electric vehicles.
