Toyota upgrades 4RunnerSeptember 13, 2019
The electronic equipment of this frame SUV remained the most archaic in the entire North American Toyota line: by and large, the electronics have not been updated since 2014, but even then the improvements were small. In fact, the 4Runner electronic equipment remained the same as 10 years ago when the current generation went on sale.
Of course, this car is bought, first of all, not because of electronic filling, but it was impossible to pull further with the update: the lag behind competitors and other Toyota models became huge. In the 2020 version of the model year, 4Runner finally receives a set of Toyota Safety Sense P active safety systems: most of its systems are already available as standard.
The complex includes automatic braking systems with pedestrian detection, warnings about getting out of the lane and the danger of skidding when driving with a trailer, cruise control, automatic high beam.
Installed a new multimedia system with an 8-inch screen and support for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa. There were two more USB ports in the rear of the cabin, the ergonomics of the front panel were improved.
The versions of Runner TRD Pro, SR5 Premium and TRD Off-Road Premium received a chip key as standard equipment. Two new exterior colors will be offered for TRD Pro: Army Green Green and Magnetic Gray Metallic Gray. A new exhaust system has been developed for the same modification, and the climate control unit is now the same as in the maximum configuration Limited.
The engine is unchanged – a 4.0-liter V6 (270 hp, 377 Nm) is installed. Drive – rear or plug-in full.
Data on the cost has not been published, but it is expected that prices will rise significantly: by 735 – 2100 dollars.
