Toyota updates European HiLuxOctober 6, 2019
The basic version, designed for commercial operation, received a simplified finish, a set of active safety systems Safety Sense became mandatory in all trim levels, except for the basic one. The list of its systems is expanded.
As in many Asian markets, in Europe the most affordable Hilux pickup option is a working pickup truck with a minimum trim level (Active). Most often it is bought in the version with a standard cabin (Active Single), but there are versions with one and a half (Active Extra Cab). After the upgrade, the Carpet disappears from the cockpit – an easily washable PVC coating appears in its place. The seat trim fabric has also become simpler, but it is also easy to clean.
For the Active version, a set of Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems is now available, but, unlike other configurations, the buyer can do without installing it. The composition of the complex has been finalized: the automatic braking system has been updated, and the warning systems about leaving the occupied lane and recognition of road signs are included in the structure without surcharge.
The 2.4-liter turbodiesel remains without noticeable improvements (150 hp), but the start-stop system is now available in more equipment levels. It becomes standard from Icon and higher.
The flagship of the line remains the Invincible X version, featuring improved smoky chrome trim on exterior elements, safety sills, a cargo platform arch, and 18-inch wheels. Inside, there are black glossy inserts. The difference between the Invincible X version is the presence of a hitch that allows you to tow a trailer weighing 3.2 – 3.5 tons.
The first market where the updated Hilux appears will be the British. There, the cost of a pickup starts at £ 20,424.
