Toyota unveils two new Corolla versions in GuangzhouNovember 20, 2020
Until now, the current generation Toyota Corolla E210 was produced in two versions: “standard” for the global market – with a wheelbase of 2700 mm and “reduced” for the Japanese market – with a wheelbase of 2640 mm.
Now there is also an elongated version: it has a distance between the centers of the axes – 2750 mm. The elongated Corolla was presented in two versions at the Guangzhou International Auto Show, they will be produced and sold in China. Note that the standard “global Corolla” is also produced in China.
The cars do not bear the Corolla name: one is called the Levin GT, the other is called the Allion. Levin in the PRC is used to modify the usual Corolla, and the name Allion first went outside Japan. The whole increase in wheelbase is for the benefit of the rear passengers, they have more legroom. The elongated Corollas have their own rear doors. Both modifications will be produced only in the “sedan” body
Cars differ from each other by their exterior. The Levin GT is similar to the usual Levin for the Chinese in body design, but the Allion has its own headlights, lamps and bumper groups with a bias to the luxury – with a generous chrome finish.
Levin GT will be produced by a joint venture GAC-Toyota, Allion – FAW-Toyota. The cars will be equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol engine and a CVT. They will occupy a niche between the standard Corolla and the Camry business sedan. Toyota Motor marketers believe that elongated Corollas will be purchased primarily as corporate vehicles and for taxi companies.
Note that Toyota Allion for the domestic Japanese market is a completely different car, although also a sedan.
