Toyota Supra returns to the track in a new teaserJanuary 1, 2019
The company decided to show us another video in the ongoing teaser campaign. But his feature was shooting in the style of “horror” of the past with the inscription “Supra is Back” on January 14.
Technically, the Toyota company in the next teaser showed us the revived Supra coupe on the track during the race. But the problem is that it will not be possible to see a car at night on a black and white video. As the company noted in the description of the video – in the video you can hear the sound of the engine, which echoes at the foot of Mount Fuji. Given this hint, the track is supposedly the famous Fuji racing track.
Despite the fact that this teaser does not allow us to consider a new coupe, earlier we could already see all the details of the exterior in the official photos randomly “merged” by the German division. By which it is clear that the designers decided not to return to the previous image and took advantage of the details of the conceptual models FT-1 and FT-HS.
We already know that a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbo engine from BMW will be used as the power unit. A similar engine is used on the Bavarian Z4 roadster. Versions with a two-liter engine may appear, but this has not been officially confirmed. Together with them the automatic transmission on eight steps will work.
Despite the same platform and engine lineup of the BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra, the engineers of both companies claim that these will be two different cars with different character and price.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Supra is unveiled before the official debut. The company decided not to wait for the presentation at the Detroit Motor Show and declassified the revived sports coupe.
