Toyota Supra is faster and fasterFebruary 14, 2020
Toyota has upgraded the GR Supra. The 2021 model year coupe for the American market has acquired an improved 6-cylinder power unit, which has improved returns, a variation with the “turbo four” 2.0 and a modified chassis for better handling.
Now Toyota GR Supra is offered with two engines: in addition to the 3-liter “six” BMW B58, the turbo engine 2.0 has entered the line, developing 259 hp in the specification for America. (400 Nm).
In turn, the “senior” engine received an update and became more productive: a new 2-line exhaust manifold and pistons, due to which the degree of rigidity decreased from 11.0: 1 to 10.2: 1, made it possible to increase productivity from 340 to 387 h.p. (from 495 to 499 Nm). The 8-speed automatic transmission remains unchanged.
After improvements, the GR Supra acceleration time to 60 mph (97 km / h) decreased by 0.2 seconds to 3.9 seconds. The indicator is calculated and it will still need to be checked. The coupe, which has a standard 2.0-liter engine, spends 5 seconds to accelerate.
Improving the balance of comfort and handling was achieved thanks to aluminum braces that connect the attachment points of the front struts to the radiator support, new dampers and re-calibrated shock absorbers. We also rewrote the functioning programs of the electric power steering wheel, adaptive chassis, stabilization system and active rear differential – all this makes the Supra more stable in the bundles of turns.
Finally, GR Supra got another special version – A91 Edition. Such a coupe has only a 3.0 power unit and is offered in two shades: Nocturnal and Refraction. The features of this version consist of a carbon spoiler and mirror housings of similar material, matte black wheels, special graphics on the rear pillars of the body and interior trim Alcantara. The circulation will be limited to 1000 copies.
