Toyota showed in Tokyo a new crossover Daihatsu RockyOctober 23, 2019
This is not a serial version of a subcompact crossover, but so far only a pre-production prototype. The car does not yet have an official name, however, according to rumors, the Japanese are going to revive the Rocky brand, popular at the time, for the novelty.
At the stand of Toyota, which became a member of the Tokyo Motor Show that opened, you can see the new compact crossover under the Daihatsu brand. He slightly diluted the string of concept cars that the brand is so enthusiastic about. The novelty is a pre-production version of the future compact cross, for which Toyota is going to revive the name Rocky. Such assumptions can be found in local media. Recall, the ultra-compact frame SUV Daihatsu Rocky was produced between 1989 and 2002.
The novelty receives the following dimensions: length – 3,995 mm, width – 1,695 mm, height – 1,620 mm, wheelbase – 2,525 mm.
As a platform, the manufacturer chose the modular DNGA, on which a number of “compact cars” and Daihatsu and Toyota key cars have been based for a couple of years. In the cabin of the new crossover will be able to comfortably accommodate a driver and four passengers. The 98-liter turbo engine, combined with a variator, is responsible for the performance of the SUV. The drive can be front or full.
Sales of new items will start in December this year: Daihatsu Rocky await in many regional markets. The brand is ready to offer customers a cross with ABS and ESP, six airbags at once, modern multimedia with a nine-inch touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, etc.
Recall that earlier we talked about the fact that Toyota showed in Tokyo a double unmanned e-Racer. The audience accepted the funny concept very favorably.
